    • Mix LEAN CUT-OFF
    • Master ON if CLEAR (beware HOT PROP)
    • Pitot heat ON (winter)
    • Turn coordinator gyro LISTEN
    • Aux vac ON/ suction CHECK/ vac OFF
    • Avionics power ON
    • Avionics cooling fan LISTEN
    • Avionics power OFF
    • Landing gear light GREEN (PUSH-ALARM SOUNDS)
    • Gear unsafe light PUSH-RED
    • Flaps down
    • Fuel gauges CHECK

    • Nose wheel tire & shock strut
    • Nose tiedown OFF
    • Propeller & spinner
    • Under cowling CLEAR
    • Landing lights CLEAN
    • Nose gear doors SECURE
    • Nose wheel well condition/clean
    • Engine oil filler cap SECURE/door closed

Autopilot & Electric Trim Preflight Check
  • Roll Axis
    1. A/P TEST: NOTE 15 annunciations.
      A/P ON: NOTE RDY.
    2. Center D/G bug. Select HDG: NOTE HDG.
      Move bug L & R: NOTE CW moves L & R to bug.
      Center bug. Overpower CW L & R: NOTE CW friction, no ratcheting noise.
    3. Tune in VOR. Select NAV: NOTE NAV.
      Turn OBS L & R: NOTE CW moves L & R to needle.
      Select REV: NOTE REV.
      Turn OBS L & R: NOTE CW moves R & L from needle.
  • Pitch Axis
    1. Select HDG. Trim ON. CW center. Select VS.
      Hold UP switch: NOTE CW moves slowly aft.
      Hold DN switch: NOTE CW moves slowly forward.
    2. Trim OFF. Overpower CW aft: NOTE TRIM/DN/alarm.
      Overpower CW forward: NOTE TRIM/UP/alarm.
      No excess play, no ratcheting noise.
    3. Press A/P Disc Switch: NOTE CW free & RDY flashes.
    4. Pitch Limiter Check
        Trim ON. A/P TEST.
        Select HDG. CW center. Select VS.
        Hold CW, depress UP: NOTE after 1/2 sec pitch disconnects.
        Release UP: NOTE pitch re-engages.
        Repeat/same for DN.
    5. Electric Trim Check
        Trim ON. A/P ON.
        Trim switch ON (both knobs):
          DN: NOTE trim moves nose down & TRIM flashes
          UP: NOTE trim moves nose up & TRIM flashes
        Overpower/stop trim wheel motion up & down.
        Operater each half of switch: NOTE no trim motion.
        With trim operating, depress/release A/P Disc Switch: NOTE trim stops/resumes.
    6. Autotrim Check
        Select HDG & VS.
        CW forward: NOTE after 3 secs trim runs nose up.
        CW aft: NOTE after 3 secs trim runs nose down.
        Trim switch up/down: NOTE A/P disconnects, trim moves.
        Select HDG & VS. Depress A/P Disc Switch: NOTE A/P disconnects
  • A/P & Trim OFF
  • NOTE: A/P & Trim disconnected & control movements free
  • Retrim for takeoff
