    6. Standard Departures/Terminal Arrivals
      a. Instrument departure procedures (DPs)
        1) Obstacle departure procedures (ODPs)
          a) Designed specifically to provide obstacle clearance during climb from the terminal area to the en route structure
            i) Provide obstacle clearance if aircraft
            • Crosses end of runway above 35 feet AGL
            • Climbs to 400 feet above airport elevation before turning
            • Climbs at least 200 feet per nautical mile (FPNM) (that's 300 fpm at ground speed = 90 knots) or higher gradient specified in DP to assigned altitude
ii) Pilots are strongly encouraged to fly published DPs at night, in marginal VMC and in IMC to ensure obstacle clearance
          b) DPs are described in text under the associated alphabetically-listed airport names in each US Terminal Procedures publication (TPP) in Section C, Take-off Minimums and (Obstacle) Departure Procedures
          c) Some ODPs may also be depicted graphically in the TPP (these will have the name "Obstacle" in the title
          d) TPPs are published every 56 days (8 weeks); and mid-cycle revisions are published every 4 weeks later by the NACO of the FAA
        2) Standard Instrument Departures (SIDs)
          a) Designed by ATC to standardize traffic flow, ensure aircraft separation and enhance capacity (also provide obstacle clearance)
          b) Text descriptions and graphic depictions are published in the TPPs after the IAPs of the associated departure airport; and also available in PDF format at the NACO website
          c) ATC clearance is required to fly a SID
      b. Standard terminal arrival routes (STARs)
        1) Prescribed routes from the en route structure to a fix in the terminal area from which an instrument approach may be flown
        2) STARs are graphically depicted and textually described in alphabetical order in Section P of the TPPs; and available online at the NACO site
Wakem Two STAR 3) RNAV STARs
          i) For use by GPS equipped aircraft
ii) Type A - require track accuracy of +/- 2 NM
iii) Type B - require track accuracy of +/- 1 NM
