Preanesthesia Checklist

PREANESTHESIA CHECKLIST

  • IV (fluids, tubing, Buretrol, stop-cocks, T-connector, gloves, tourniquet, alcohol pads, catheters, tape, lidocaine)
  • ECG
  • BP cuffs
  • suction, including catheters to fit smallest ETT
  • stethoscope(s)
  • pulse oximeter
  • airways: oral, nasal, ETT, stylet
  • mask(s), bag, O2 tank & tubing
  • breathing system (Mapleson D or other)
  • laryngoscope and blade(s)
  • LMA(s) - table of sizes
  • syringe pump & syringe
  • epinephrine, sodium bicarbonate, atropine/glycopyrrolate, succinylcholine
  • lidocaine
  • bupivacaine
  • IV induction agent(s) thiopental, propofol, ketamine
  • IM agent: ketamine 5%, 10%
  • Narcotics, methohexital
  • muscle relaxant(s): mivacurium, rocuronium, cisatracurium, vecuronium, pancuronium
  • nerve stimulator
  • edrophonium/neostigmine
  • heparin
  • tape, 4x4's
  • chair
  • paperwork: anesthesia records preop, intraop, orders
  • blood administration set, fluid warmer, pressure bags
  • NG tube(s)
  • transport monitor
