The Bluffs
All day
we wander the bluffs,
standing above the birds,
cutting their circle
in the air below us.
Together, with the birds,
we watch the earthbound creatures
scurrying from place to place,
passing each other
on the interstate,
rushing their lives along.
Then we lean back
into the hands
of fronds an grass,
practice belonging
to the sky.
